<image:title>Our Vision & Mission - Our Vision.</image:title>
<image:caption>Wellness and Opportunity for Students and Families Our focus is on helping vulnerable students with resources to overcome food insecurity while seeking educational opportunities beyond high school. We support students, along with their families, who are part of under-resourced communities, who have nevertheless in light of their real-life circumstances demonstrated achievement in school, and who with a helping hand would be enabled to overcome finite family resources as they pursue further education and life beyond. We are inspired by our own having received support from others during our own varied challenged upbringings and envision a growing movement led by these young people who will choose to help others who come along behind them in life.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Vision & Mission</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Mission. The Ammar B. Mufleh Foundation, under the leadership of its founder, is pursuing the mission of identifying students who would benefit from improved personal and family food security and support them while they pursue further educational opportunities so as to prepare themselves for making their own contributions to life and society here in the USA and beyond. We pursue this mission through our commitment to: Changing Food Insecurity – We are aligning our resources so as to support existing food banks and meal programs that help children, youth, and their families gain access to healthy meals. Changing Tech Access – We are working with educators in order to understand the needs of students who are dedicated to their education, but are challenged through a lack of resources. We are providing funding support to these untapped communities of students that will allow for the purchase of tech hardware, including providing IT resource scholarships, in the form of laptops, to graduating seniors pursuing higher education. Paying It Forward – Building upon Founder Mufleh’s own life experiences, we are inspired to support university students seeking to engage in graduate studies. The one request of grant recipients is that once they achieve success in life, they in turn will assist others in attaining access to graduate education. Growing of Partnerships and Resources – We are seeking to identify others who share our values and interests, and who would be open to reciprocity in sharing resources so that our mutual visions and missions may be realized. We have benefitted individually from the support of others along our pathways of life, enabling us to become who we are, and we now wish to do the same for others who are coming along the road of life behind us.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Director of Giving David Chavez</image:title>
<image:caption>David Chavez is a first-generation Mexican- American born in South Central Los Angeles. Both his parents are immigrants from Mexico. Life as an immigrant was not kind to his parents so at a young age his family moved back to Mexico and was raised by his family in a rancho. At the age of 5, his family moved back to Los Angeles. Identified as an English Language Learner, he was limited to the resources and access other students had. As a third-grader he already knew he needed to reclassify and remove the limiting EL label. Once the label was removed, he was able to navigate his educational trajectory into the GATE program. This was able to lead him out of the inner city elementary, into a more resourceful educational path. He is now an administrator for a science-based elementary school that leads his staff and students with a social justice lens that anything is possible as long as you work hard, value yourself and those that care for you and make good choices with integrity and good character. He has served on national non-profit educational boards, created non-profit organizations to help at-risk youth, and brings awareness to special education programs for families that do not understand the policies that govern and provide resources for them.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Carlos Ruiz immigrated at a very young age from Nicaragua to the U.S., alongside his sister and parents, as asylum seekers. His life experiences growing up in an underprivileged home by parents who sacrificed it all helped him learn the importance of education and paying it forward to the youth and Latino community. He has worked in a financial capacity in the public and non-profit sector for the last decade and uses these skill sets, coupled with his passion for advocacy and mentorship, as a community leader in NW Ohio, serving on multiple boards and committees, particularly those geared towards promoting the advancement of marginalized communities.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team (Copy) - Director of Giving David Chavez</image:title>
